LM Communications raises over $8,500 for Local Veterans

Charleston, WV… LM Communications, a multimedia group and parent company of WKLC-FM, WMXE-FM, WWQB-FM, WSCW-AM and WJYP-AM/WMON-AM, hosted their third annual Salute to Veterans on Saturday, November 2nd at The Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston.

This celebratory evening featured fantastic live music from Lo Jam, The Carpenter Ants and Mother’s Nature.  Joining The Carpenter Ants was legendary and West Virginia Music Hall of Famer, John Ellison.  Crash Kelly, Program Director of the FM Stations and Chris Colagrosso, Program Director of the AM Stations led an evening featuring all eleven of the local LM Communications on air personalities dressed in formal attire, courtesy of Tony the Tailor (Charleston) and Barbie’s Formals (Milton). The Charleston Police Department presented the colors, John Ellison sang our National Anthem, The Beni Kedem Highlanders performed, SFC Matthew Jackson of the West Virginia Army National Guard honored those that have fallen with a trumpet solo and Lee Dean lent his vocal talents to the night with “God Bless the USA”.  The presenting sponsors were Pugh Furniture Warehouse Showrooms, Yeager Airport and the Dutch Miller Auto Group. Special thanks to Jim Strawn & Company for their marketing support. All the money raised will be donated to our local veterans through The Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center and the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville.

“Pugh Furniture Warehouse Showrooms was proud to be a presenting sponsor for the LM Communications Veterans Dance.  It was an amazing event with every penny going back to the veterans. We salute LM Communications and their staff for their tremendous efforts and another successful event. It was a super evening” said Beth Pugh.  Nick Keller, Airport Director, shared that “Yeager Airport is proud to support our veterans and honor those who have served our great country. We are committed to serving our veterans, our community, and West Virginia by being your gateway to the world.”  Chris Miller of the Dutch Miller Auto Group said ”Supporting the veteran population is extremely important to our company. We are honored to be part of this event and thank all those that have served our great country.”

Music is one of the greatest story-telling tools of our society.  From the American Revolution through our efforts in the war against terror, music has always played a role.  “It is a natural step for our team at LM Communications and our station cluster in West Virginia to choose the veteran population as a core pillar of our community service” said Vice President of Community Affairs, Dotsy Klei.  “Our entire team considers this annual event a privilege to host and we have been humbled by such great support.”
