Press Release from LM Communications.
CHARLESTON, WV December 5, 2017… LM Communications, a multimedia group and parent company of WKLC-FM, WMXE-FM, WWQB-FM, WSCW-AM and WJYP-AM/WMON-AM, hosted an inaugural dance on Veteran’s Day at the Nitro Moose Lodge.
A Salute to Our Veterans was a celebratory evening featuring a patriotic program from “The Senior Moments”, live music from ‘Wood and Wine” and “Ultra Sound” and special vocal performances from Michelle McClure, Landeau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and Lee Dean. The presenting sponsors were Yeager Airport, Pugh Furniture Warehouse Showrooms, Minuteman Press of South Charleston and Green’s Feed and Seed. Over 375 people attended the event and of those that signed the guest book, 61 served our great country. All the money raised that evening went to our local veterans through The Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, Goodwill Industries “Boots on the Ground” program and the West Virginia Veteran’s Home. The live and silent auctions combined with the revenue from admission ($10 per person) and a split the pot collection generated $10,693.51. Blenko Glass commissioned a piece especially for this event and $10 from every sale was donated putting the overall event total at $11,173.51. In addition, Shaffer Distributing generously donated an electronic dart game to the West Virginia Veteran’s Home.
“Pugh Furniture Warehouse Showrooms was proud to be a presenting sponsor for the LM Communications Veteran’s Dance. It was an amazing event with every penny going back to the veterans. We salute LM Communications and their staff for their tremendous efforts in pulling this event together! It was a super evening” said Beth Pugh. Randy Coleman, Chief of Staff in the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance added. “Thank you for taking such an appropriately aggressive lead and making this event happen. We in this office are certainly grateful to LM Communications for your hard work.” Senator Manchin III and Congressman Evan H. Jenkins both sent greetings which were read at the event. Terry Sayer, Airport Director, shared that “Yeager Airport was proud to be able to help sponsor this event for our Veterans. We support our Veterans as well as the WV Air National Guard. Thanks for letting us be a part of this great program for our Veterans.”
Music is one of the greatest story-telling tools of our society. From the American Revolution through our efforts in the war against terror, music has always played a role. “It is a natural step for our team at LM Communications and our station cluster in West Virginia to choose the veteran population as a core pillar of our community service” said General Manager, Dotsy Klei. “We were excited to host this upcoming inaugural event and have been humbled by such great support.”
