Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
The show airing February 17, 2020 – February 28, 2020 highlights the YWCA’s Women of Achievement Luncheon.
We interviewed Debby Weinstein, President & CEO of YWCA of Charleston, WV. She talked about what the 24th Annual WOA Luncheon was all about.
Each year, YWCA Charleston honors four Kanawha Valley women for their outstanding personal and professional achievements, as well as their contributions to the community at the annual Women of Achievement luncheon. Along with these women, a woman who has overcome obstacles and life challenges through participating in one or more of the YWCA’s programs is selected as the Empowerment Award winner.
As a fundraiser, Women of Achievement supports the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA programs supported are: YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women and Families, YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program, YWCA Racial Justice Program, YWCA Mel Wolf Child Development Center, YWCA Shanklin Center for Senior Enrichment, YWCA Alicia McCormick Homes and YWCA Empowerment Homes for Women.
The honorees include: Dr Michelle Foster, Mayor Amy Goodwin, Sandy Murphy, Morgan Rhea Beals, and Deb Harris. We interviewed each of them on this show.
