Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing May 20, 2019 –  May 27, 2019 highlights the YMCA of Kanawha Valley and their upcoming 34th Annual Corporate Cup & the WV Music Hall of Fame and their upcoming 8th Garden Party.

We interviewed Chris Wade, Adult & Youth Sports Director at the YMCA.

Chris discussed his role overseeing all the leagues the Y offers for both youth and adults.

Then he dove into the Corporate Cup. This year the event is being held from June 1, 2019 – June 26, 2019, with an Awards Ceremony taking place on June 28th during the Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee.

Corporate Cup offers Kanawha Valley companies and organizations the opportunity to join together as an official team. It is one of the summer’s most enjoyable events, filled with camaraderie and competition.

Over a three-week period, competitors participate in various team sports and individual challenges, bringing out best efforts and spirited encounters. Corporate Cup gives everyone a chance to compete and strive for bragging rights. But most importantly, it’s a great social experience that promotes health and wellness.

The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization dedicated to documenting and preserving the rich and lasting contributions West Virginians have made to all genres of music.

The Hall of Fame’s mission is to recognize the many important musicians who have helped shape the rich spectrum of American music from country, classical and jazz to rock, R&B, gospel and traditional.

The WVMHoF’s mission also includes establishing a permanent facility to house the Hall of Fame and an accompanying museum to exhibit and archive recordings and memorabilia.

Currently they have a storefront at the Town Center Mall in Charleston, WV, complete with retail and archives.

Their 8th Annual Garden Party at Cafe Cimino is set for Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 3-9:00 p.m. Cafe Cimino is located in Sutton, WV.
