West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WV VOAD).
We interviewed Ben Cisco, CFO and Director of Operations at WV VOAD. He discussed their purpose and mission.
West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is a humanitarian association of independent organizations that may be active in all phases of disaster. Its mission is to identify unmet needs and facilitate efficient streamlined service delivery to those imperiled or impacted by disaster while eliminating duplication of effort through cooperation, coordination, communication, and collaboration in the four phases of disaster: Preparation, Response, Recovery, and Mitigation.
He talked about the 4 C’s:
WV VOAD adheres to the principals established by National VOAD. The principals are referred to as the four C’s:
Cooperation
Communication
Coordination
Collaboration
The principals serve as the foundation for the WV VOAD as it collaborates with local, regional, and national partners to coordinate disaster relief, response, and recovery efforts in times of disaster.
Ben also discussed their upcoming conference scheduled for September 20-21, 2022 in South Charleston, WV at the Holiday Inn & Suites.
