Highlights: From the Heart of Our Community, is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
The show airing February 20, 2017-February 27, 2017 ‘highlights’ the University of Charleston MBA Program and Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley.
Host of the show, Jim Strawn, interviewed Rick Ferris, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of the UC MBA Program. Dr. Ferris discussed the uniqueness and the program description.
The Master of Business Administration program at the University of Charleston is an innovative program for professionals from diverse backgrounds who want to advance their careers and broaden their education backgrounds.
The MBA curriculum relies on both theory and practical experience to give candidates insight into the intricacies of a constantly changing economic world. The core program is divided into eight 8-week modules. The program provides flexible pathways for experienced professionals, those seeking to enhance their experience, and students pursuing their PharmD at UC.
It is an excelerated 32-credit hour program, with a 16-month cohort experience. Dr. Ferris talked about an annual international practicum/trip that is included in the tuition.

Jim also interviewed Jennifer Waggener, Executive Director, Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley. Faith in Action’s mission is to support the independent living of older adults in the communities we serve by lending a helping hand, neighbor to neighbor.
Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley provides a variety of services to people in Kanawha and Putnam counties based on the availability of volunteer caregivers to fulfill the requested needs. Services we offer include:
Transportation to medical appointments
Transportation to the grocery store
Shopping & other errands
Visitation
Telephone reassurance calls
Caregiver respite
Honey Do Crew projects
Jennifer talked about their upcoming fundraising event scheduled for Thursday March 2, 2017 at the Columbia Pipeline Auditorium at 1700 MacCorkle Avenue SE from 6:30-9:00 p.m.
It is their 3rd Annual Sweet Charity event. The evening promises to have plenty of tasty treats, music and drinks.
