About Highlights:

Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Optimum Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Optimum’s channel 17.

YWCA WOA Luncheon:

The show airing February 19, 2024 through February 26, 2024 features the YWCA’s Women of Achievement Luncheon.

We interviewed Jennifer Goddard, CEO of the YWCA Charleston.

She discussed the importance of the event both in terms of recognition of these trailblazing women and the financial support secured which helps support all the YWCA programs throughout the year.

YWCA Charleston is hosting its 28 th annual Women of Achievement luncheon on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024. This prestigious event  accomplishments of remarkable women who have made outstanding contributions to our community, embodying the values of leadership, empowerment, and community service.


This year’s honorees are:
• Olubunmi “Bunmi” Kusimo-Frazier, Esq. – Trial Attorney for Thomas Combs & Spann and former Deputy Counsel for the West Virginia Supreme Court of  ppeals – Woman to Watch Award
• Jamie Tridico, PT/DPT – Owner of Advanced Physical Therapy and VP elect for the American Physical Therapy Association of West Virginia – Woman of Achievement Award Recipient
• Virginia Slack, CPA – Owner of her own sole-practitioner accounting practice since 1984 –Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient
• Tiffany Crum – Supportive Counselor for those overcoming substance use disorder at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital – Encova Empowerment Award Recipient

Mission of the YWCA:

Proceeds from the event support the programs of YWCA Charleston and its mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

YWCA Women of Achievement is the Kanawha Valley’s longest-running event devoted solely to recognizing the accomplishments and contributions made by women in the community.
