Highlights: From the Heart of Our Community, is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing February 27, 2017-March 6, 2017 ‘highlights’ the Russell & Martha Wehrle Innovation Center at the University of Charleston and the Mountain East Conference Basketball Tournament scheduled for March 1-5, 2017.

We interviewed Fonda Holehouse, Vice President, Innovation Center at the University of Charleston. Fonda discussed mission and purpose of the Innovation Center, which is a first-class, intercollegiate athletic facility for basketball and volleyball and a distinctive site for fostering innovation and entrepreneurialism among students, faculty and community residents.

It truly is a fascinating facility.

We had a chance to view the video of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, held December 3, 2016.

We also interviewed David Ramsburg, Director of the Innovation Center, from the main lobby of the center.

Fonda also discussed the community partnership with Kanawha County Schools and specifically John Adams Middle School with a Coding Program.

We also interviewed Rod Blackstone, Senior Assistant to the Mayor, City of Charleston and Tim Brady, VP Sales & Marketing Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau.

It is Basketball Month in Charleston, WV.

Tim talked with such excited about March Madness in Charleston, WV.  With 3 separate tournaments, the Mountain East Conference (MEC), the WVSSAC Girls, and the WVSSAC Boys, coming to the Charleston Civic Center, how could you not be enthusiastic.

Rod discussed the economic importance of the MEC Tournament, scheduled for March 1-5, 2017 in Charleston, as a $2.1 million boost to the city of Charleston.

He thanked local businesses who ‘stepped up’ to support this tournament knowing it was important to the City of Charleston.
