Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications, and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing November 15, 2021 – November 22, 2021 features the Downtown Charleston Association.

We interviewed Kevin Madison, President, Downtown Charleston Association.

He discussed all the plans they have for the upcoming holiday season.

The association is newly formed. They operate the Charleston ArtWalks.

On Black Friday, November 26th, the ArtWalk is from noon-8:00.

Shops, restaurants and businesses plan to be open. At 5:00 p.m. at the Lee Street Triangle, the Mayor will light the official Charleston Christmas tree.

A few minutes later the Holly Jolly Brawley will be lite with 38 sponsored trees. This is on the Brawley Walkway just off Capitol Street.

Music, hot chocolate, food will abound the evening.

He also discussed Small Business Saturday set for November 27, 2021. ALL the downtown businesses will be open and offering specials.

Kevin encourage everyone to shop small but be BIG. It really helps our small business owners.

We also talked about the Love Thy Neighbor Walk scheduled for November 23rd from 10-11:00 a.m. beginning at Roark-Sullivan and ending at Manna Meal on Quarrier Street.
