Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications, and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing June 28, 2021 – July 12, 2021 features the City of Charleston, WV and all their summer events lined up.

We interviewed Mackenzie Spencer, Communications Specialist for the City of Charleston.

Mackenzie discussed ALL the great things happening in Charleston for you and your family.

Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee

The City of Charleston is excited to announce the 17th season of Live on the Levee at Haddad Riverfront Park. This free concert series will begin Friday, July 9 and continue for 13 weeks—concluding October 1. This year’s lineup includes an array of musical styles – from rhythm and blues and country to rock and heavy metal.

“The City of Charleston is excited for the return of Live on the Levee after the cancelation of last year’s season,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “We will showcase great local and regional talent, local food and retail vendors. Thank you to all of the folks that help support Live on the Levee.”

Headlining attractions for the 2021 Live on the Levee season include The Kentucky Headhunters, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Second Helping: The American Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Show and Byzantine.

The non-profit partners this year include Roark Sullivan Lifeway Center, YWCA’s Sojourners Shelter, Covenant House, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewals’ Samaritan Inn and Manna Meal.

Kanawha Boulevard Sunday Closures

All lanes of the Kanawha Blvd will be closed from Court Street to Greenbrier Street from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays through September 5th. Enjoy walking, biking, skating, running etc.

Splash Pad and Pools

The City opened the Splash Pad at Magic Island. And the pools are opening the first of July.

Drive-In Movie Nights

On Magic Island with WQBE and Electric 102 these FREE Family Movie Nights will include: Moana on Wednesday July 7th and Godzilla vs Kong on August 4th. Movies begin at 9:00 pm.

Food Truck Friday

A crowd favorite. Every Friday on the Kanawha Blvd from 11:00 – 3:00 8-12 Food Trucks will be offering up some delicious lunch options.
