Highlights: From the Heart of Our Community, is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

We interviewed Bob Anderson, Director of South Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau and Sharen Deitz, SCCVB Board Member.
Bob talked about the 16th Annual SummerFest scheduled for August 16-19, 2017 on D Street in South Charleston, WV.
Sharen discussed her role as a board member; providing strategic vision and planning for the city of South Charleston.
The SummerFest line-up includes: The Company Stores, The Esquires, The Joseph Sisters, The Rocket Man, The VanDells, and Rick K & The Allnighters.

We also interviewed Aila Accad, MSN, RN, Executive Director Future of Nursing WV. She discussed the organization and their upcoming 2nd Annual Award Gala.
The Future of Nursing WV believes that in order to advance this vision, nursing; the largest sector of the healthcare workforce must be improved. The nursing profession can and will play a significant role in advancing the health of West Virginians. Our project teams, strategic advisors, members and funders all work together toward the goal of creating a culture of health for West Virginia through advancing nursing practice, nursing education and nursing leadership.
Their 2nd Annual Awards Gala is scheduled for August 19, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV.
They are honoring 40 Under 40. Forty nurses under the age of 40 years old making a difference in their respective field throughout WV.
