Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing August 26, 2019 –  September 2, 2019 highlights Mountain Mission & Capital City Challenge.

We interviewed John Roberts, Executive Director of Mountain Mission. He gave us an overview of the Mountain Mission purpose. Mountain Mission Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, faith-based, charitable organization whose mission is to serve families and individuals in the Kanawha Valley by assisting with unexpected emergency needs such as financial and in-kind.  By carrying out this mission, they will support those in need with immediate support and communicate the importance of education, careers and financial management.  This will make the most positive impact in the lives of those they serve in Christ’s name.

Their vision is to create and carry out programs that will relieve hurting families and individuals in their immediate time of emergency need.  They believe that this will give them hope and the confidence and means to become self-supported. This will empower them and their families to create a safer and more nurturing community.

John was excited to discuss an upcoming dinner event that will benefit his organization; A Better Life Night.

At the dinner, scheduled for September 7, 2019 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Charleston Marriott, they are honoring Randy Marion Sr., owner of Randy Marion Chevrolet Buick Cadillac, with the first-ever Mountain Mission Lifetime Pinnacle Award, in recognition of his continuous, vital contributions to our organization and his lifetime of support for assisting families and individuals in need throughout West Virginia.

They are also excited to be honoring our first-ever Mountain Mission Community Ambassadors, for their selfless hard work and dedication to the betterment of the Charleston community and Greater Kanawha Valley. This year’s honorees are George Manahan (owner of The Manahan Group, a public relations firm in Charleston) and Michelle Thompson (Director of City Ministries at Bible Center Church in Charleston).

Tickets may be purchased by clicking here. They are only $60.

The evening promises to be full of good food, spirit & hope, auction items, and moving fellowship. Best part; we are raising monies for Mountain Mission. Hope you can join us.
