Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
The show airing June 22, 2020 – June 29, 2020 highlights the Fund for the Arts.
We interviewed Margaret Liberman, Executive Director and Jill McIntyre, President of Fund for the Arts.
Margaret gave us an overview of Fund for the Arts. They are a service organization providing financial and operational support to 12 member arts organizations through Festivals, fundraising campaign and the tireless efforts of their Board members. They believe that artists and arts organizations enhance the beauty and cultural richness of our community, and help drive its economic growth and prosperity.
Jill discussed their largest fundraising of the year, the ever-popular Wine & Jazz Music Festival. Jill, with disappointment in her tone also talked about the cancellation of the event due to COVID 19 pandemic.
However, the show is going on. A virtual Wine & Jazz Music Festival has been announced. It is scheduled for June 27th beginning at 6:00 p.m. LIKE the Fund for the Arts Facebook Page for streaming instructions.
They are great entertainment line up: Bob Thompson Trio, Minor Swing, and Shubh Saran.
You supply the wine and the socially distanced venue and they supply the smooth, soulful, danceable jazz music.
Donations and contributions are being accepted at a GoFUNDMe account. Simply click here to make a contribution.
The goal is $50,000. Please help if you can.
Share their posts on social media and they look forward to ‘seeing’ you (virtually) on June 27th at 6:00 p.m. ADMISSION IS FREE!
