Highlights: From the Heart of Our Community, is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.
The show airing August 14, 2017 – August 21, 2017 ‘highlights’ Bridgevalley Community & Technical College and The Willy Foundation. 
We interviewed Eunice Bellinger, President, Bridgevalley Community & Technical College. She has been in her role for 1 year. She discussed the great things happening at Bridgevalley, namely the partnership with KVC on the Montgomery, WV campus. Bridgevalley operates 2 campuses: South Charleston and Montgomery.
She talked about the mission and vision of the college; BridgeValley Community and Technical College promotes student success, prepares a skilled workforce, and builds tomorrow’s leaders by providing access to quality educatio. They want to be the college of opportunity for a diverse learner population, offering leading-edge technology, innovative ideas, and dynamic service to our students and our communities.
We also talked with Greg Ingram, Mayor of Montgomery, WV. He spoke excitedly about the Bridgevalley partnership with KVC unfolding in his town. Activity, programs, jobs, quality of life were just a few of the good things he discussed. He invited all interested parties to the official press conference on August 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to announce the partnership. The event will be held in the library of the former WVU Tech facility.
We also interviewed Jane Shuman, Founder, The Willy Foundation. The Willy Foundation was formed after her son was tragically killed in June of 2009.
The Willy Foundation is a private, family foundation formed in memory of Willy Shuman by James W. and Jane H. Shuman, J. Wilson Shuman, Jr., Grant P.H. Shuman, Edward S. Shuman and Jonathan S. Shuman. Its mission is to motivate, encourage and support young men and women in order to reach their fullest potential and become leaders in their communities.
She spoke about their 8th Annual Family Fun Night scheduled for August 27, 2017 from 5-8:00 p.m at the Charleston Tennis Club. Tennis round robin, cookout, music, clown and face painting, rock wall climbing, balloons, pickle ball, silent auction, cake walk, and more.
