About Highlights:
Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.
The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Optimum Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.
The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Optimum’s channel 17.
American Heart Association – WV
The show airing May 5, 2025 – May 12, 2025 features the American Heart Association and their upcoming Heart Ball. We interviewed Michelle Anderson, Executive Director, Amanda Sosebee, Development Director, Dr. Christy Robinson & Gina Joynes, Co-Chairs.
Michelle & Amanda discussed the importance of the American Heart Association.

The Heart of Charleston campaign unites supporters with a shared purpose to raise the critical funds they need to ensure the work continues. Throughout their campaign they celebrate our milestones, thank our sponsors, and honor the heroes. They encourage all to come together to achieve something bigger than ourselves. 2025 Charleston Heart Ball
We talked with Dr. Christy Robinson & Gina Joynes, Co-Chairs of the 2025 Charleston Heart Ball. With a theme of Lights! Camera! Take Action!, it is easy to get excited about this year’s event. Both spoke passionately about their ‘Why’ to get involved.
There is going to be a focus on pediatric heart care at the event this year. Dr. Robinson, who is a pediatrician with Capital City Pediatrics, discussed the importance of heart health for children.
The event is set for May 17, 2025 from 6-10:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV.
