We interviewed Bethany Hall, Executive Director, Alzheimer’s Association of WV and Nikki Kinder, Special Events Coordinator.
Bethany discussed the mission and purpose of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter is the only voluntary health organization in West Virginia solely dedicated to providing education and support service to individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, to their families and caregivers. They serve all 55 counties in West Virginia and six counties in eastern Ohio. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Nikki talked about their upcoming fundraising luncheon, A Reason to Hope, scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Four Points by Sheraton.
Reason to hope
The Alzheimer’s Association will be presenting The Legacy Award to U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito for her unwavering support of caregivers and championing of legislation that offers solutions and support to the 5.4 million Americans and 37,000 West Virginians living with Alzheimer’s. They are also presenting the Champion of Hope Award to Susie Casto, a volunteer who has led the way to hope by stepping-up, speaking-out and providing support for so many West Virginia and Ohio families.

The WV Expo EXPO  for Design, Construction & Engineering, has become a meeting ground for numerous trade associations and professional societies. A number of impressive speakers and seminars are also offered at EXPO to round out a complete educational experience. The sponsors have found that these seminars and meetings help attract qualified attendees to the show! A number of our seminars offer continuing education credit.
Chris discussed an event in conjunction with the WV Expo, the first Wing Eating Challenge scheduled for Tuesday March 21, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Adelphia Sports Bar & Grill.
The event hopes to raise $40,000 for Children’s Home Society. They are the largest child welfare nonprofit in West Virginia. The society cared for 14,605 children and families last year, providing care from 13 locations to all 55 counties.
