Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.

The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.

The show airing February 3, 2020 – February 10, 2020 highlights the 16th Annual Night with the Stars Gala to benefit the Children’s Therapy Clinic and the 2nd Annual LoveFest to benefit the WV Health Right.

We interviewed Valicia Leary, Executive Director of the Children’s Therapy Clinic. She gave us an overview of the clinic.

Children’s Therapy Clinic offers comprehensive therapy services to children ages birth through 18. Their clients have inadequate or no insurance coverage for their condition, and may be economically disadvantaged. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and are funded by grants, grassroots fundraising efforts, and donations from corporations and individuals. They provide physicaloccupationalspeech, and music therapies and an autism socialization program to improve functional abilities of children with a variety of special needs. These include developmental delays, neurological impairments such as cerebral palsy, musculoskeletal disorders such as spina bifida, and genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome.

The therapists also work frequently with autism, apraxia, seizure disorders, sensory integration disorders, prematurity, traumatic brain injury, phonological disorders, and central auditory disorders.

One of their biggest fundraising events of the year in the Night with the Stars Gala. This year set for Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 6-11:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites.

It is an Oscar-watching Gala. They roll out the Red Carpet and watch the Academy Awards Sunday, February 9th at the Embassy Suites, Charleston. There will be food, refreshments, contests(including costume, predict the winners, and Oscar trivia), and a silent auction along with a Big Screen Broadcast of the 2019 Oscars.

Tickets are $100 in Advance and $125 the evening of the event.

The 2nd Annual LoveFest is scheduled for Valentine’s Evening, February 14th at the the Charleston Convention Center from 6:30-11:00 p.m.

LOVEFEST happens on February 14th, 2020 in the ballroom of the beautiful Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center in downtown Charleston, WV.

Advance tickets are only $40, and $50 day of show.

All proceeds go to benefit West Virginia Health Right and the HOPE program.
