The Community Culinary Showcase to benefit Carver Career Center’s Culinary Arts Program is scheduled to unfold on August 4, 2022 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Charleston Convention Center.
An engaging evening that brings many unique ingredients together to create a great recipe of celebrating our diverse local culinary community. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to watch each local Food and Beverage professional prepare their signature item right in front of you as you network and enjoy being a ‘Foodie for the Night’ all while knowing you are helping to provide scholarship dollars that will have a lasting impact.
The Adult Culinary Arts program at Carver is a one-year commitment for students who are eager to learn culinary academics. The program provides the student with a unique combination of comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on training to prepare them for careers in many widely-varied areas of the culinary industry.
The program’s curriculum is carefully structured to meet the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) standards. Students will learn different restaurant management skills through a limited number of National Restaurant courses such as Manage First Courses, Supervision Management, Purchasing, and ServeSafe.
Plans are to have at least 12 local chefs preparing and serving up delicious tappas and desserts during the evening. A cash bar will be provided while DJEJ provides the ‘good vibes’.
You will also have the opportunity to bid on culinary auction packages provided by the chefs.
Joining the event to serve as celebrity judges are April Hamiltion, author of Counter Intelligence and Paul Smith, Executive Chef.
