On Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., the 4th Annual Freedom Celebration concert, a Charleston FestivALL event, will be presented. A combined community chorus and orchestra will present a patriotic concert conducted by Barry Skeenes.
The program presents various musical pieces commemorating our country’s independence and other struggles for freedom. Last year’s concert included singers from 11 churches and 4 other organizations. The orchestra consisted of instrumentalists from the region and from the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

∙ The Nation’s Prayer (Panis Angelicus), César Franck
∙ We Will Stand as Strong, Tall Towers, tribute to 9/11
∙ Reading of Declaration of Independence by Ed Rabel, award-winning news journalist
∙ American Portrait #1, orchestral piece, written as a Norman Rockwell “musical painting”
∙ If My People Will Pray, Jimmy Owens
∙ Patriotic Cohan, A Medley, (fun with Yankee Doodle Boy, Over There, and You’re a Grand Old Flag)

CORE (the Center for Organ Recovery & Education), and Edgewood Summit Housing will have representatives on hand to provide information regarding their organizations.
