PRESS RELEASE FROM CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH

On Saturday, December 16th, 5:00 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church with Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church will present A Festival of Lessons and Carols, an eclectic Christmas program with choir and orchestra with a focus on who of us will go “to Bethlehem” to meet the Christ?

Narrative lessons are given and beautiful choral and orchestral arrangements include: rousing carols, fanfare, lullaby, gospel/pop piece, child’s solo, poignant and other selections, and concludes with Dan Forrest’s incredible arrangement of “Angels from the Realms of Glory.” The orchestra will include string players from the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, brass, woodwinds, percussion and keyboard.

The program is free and open to the general public.

Calvary will also present its traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7:00 p.m.December 24. This moving service reflects on words from an anthem: “this must be the place where I bow down before you.”

Calvary Baptist Church is located off the westbound I-64 exit for Washington Street West and the Lee Street exit of eastbound I-64, on Charleston’s West Side at the corner of Lee Street and Maryland Avenue directly behind Kroger’s store.
